So fun!
This is the 3rd year I’ve purchased an Arteza Advent Calendar for myself. I feel like it’s always a nice way to treat myself and get some art supplies I may not have ordinarily purchased or even known about. This 2024 Advent with Tiffany Anna is my favorite out of the 3 years. I love the amazing box it came in and all the separate boxes inside for each day. Note that my lid tore on two of the corners once I had opened and closed it several times. I used packing tape to repair it, but I recommend taping it right away for reinforcement if you want to keep this beautiful box like I do!In the past Advents I would receive a fun art item each day, but then sometimes wonder what to do with it. I love the prompts that are given this year, along with art supplies for that project. It makes the whole thing even better and more fun. I’m not going to tell you too many details so I don’t spoil the fun, but the first project is painting a bumblebee like Tiffany Anna does. I am a beginner artist so before making my final project on the provided canvas (which is super special) I have been practicing on acrylic art paper. By my third try I was happy with the results and now I’m ready to paint the real deal. It helps that the box etc. has those bees all over so that I can see how to do it. I am totally hooked on painting bumblebees now! That is not the case with one of the other projects which involves cherries, there is a prompt but no pictures to help me know what to do. I did look at Tiffany Anna’s website and social media pages and finally saw a piece of art she had done with cherries but it’s not even the full picture. I’ll figure it out but it would be nice to have a little more help for some of these.I am still giving this 5 stars, however, there were a couple of things I was disappointed in. The canvas for the bee painting ends up being wrinkled because of how its boxed. I was able to carefully iron/steam on low on the back side to get the worst of it out. For another project several pages of multi-media paper is supplied – these are really curled up and wouldn’t flatten out even after a day under a book. I finally ironed those too. These are for a watercolor but I found the paper to be inferior and didn’t like it, thankfully I have my own paper too and switched to that for the project. On days 21-23 you are given a few special extra items picked by Tiffany, they are fabulous items. Some of the boxes, usually the initial day of each project, has multiple items in it. So there are more than 24 items supplied, nice!I started out opening the things for each project at the same time. I was working on the third project today. Some projects need drying time so I’m still in the middle of project 2 as well. Today I decided to just open the rest because some things can go with more than one project and I wanted to see what else I had. I am pleased with the variety of projects and items. Some things are similar to stuff I’ve done before and some are brand new ideas for me. I’m really enjoying the process. There are at least 6 projects. The last one on day 24 doesn’t have a prompt and isn’t a medium I’ve used before, but after looking up ideas online I’m actually really excited to dive in and make Christmas ornaments with it.One great thing is that the majority of the art supplies still have loads left for future projects too.Now that I’ve used some, and seen all, of the items in this Advent I have no regrets on this purchase and would absolutely buy it again. I recommend it.

Overpriced Craft Supplies Box
If youâre looking for an art advent calendar to teach you new projects, donât bother with this one. They give you an âinspirationâ card, with no other guidanceâ Fear not, though! Thereâs a QR code taking you to her website where you can pay EVEN MORE for access to the tutorials for the overpriced items you received in this box. At this price, for a box of paint tubes and paint brushes, the tutorials should be included. I really thought Arteza had done something revolutionary here with their Craft Advent Calendars, but Iâm left underwhelmed and overcharged, with a frustrated teenage girl.

Fine art? Not really…
I liked a few things about it, but overall it was a disappointment.Pros:*Quality cardboard box that can be used for storage or reused as an advent calendar*A FEW days where art supplies were provided which felt as if they reflected the price point*A variety of supplies which, depending on your personal experience, may allow you to try something newCons:*At least three horrible days and many not great ones*Not enough value for cost… the box cost me $79.99 plus tax and even if we said the packaging cost them $8 (it may be more or less for Arteza) that still makes each day $3, and while not every day is going to contain the same value, there were days where a value of $0.25 would be generous.*”Projects” given without ANY pictures or tutorials*Several days of random supplies between “project 5” and “project 6″*A final project that ought to have been given days in advance if intended for ChristmasSPOILERS:A few examples of what I considered to be the worst days: one day you get a single white crayon; another you get cheap “multimedia paper” that feels like printer paper and is rolled; another you get plastic-like “foil” and sheets to stick them to whatever (it’s not part of a project.)Some of the ones I enjoyed were days where you received paints, brushes, etc. A couple days there were actually more than one item in which worked hard to help this advent calendar. One day you got four half pan watercolors and a water brush pen. Basically, the good days you would get at least a tube or pan of paint or a decent brush or something useful. There were a few items I had not tried which was nice for me but may not be everyone’s experience. One of my biggest complaints is that it had a heavy craft leaning… big plastic ornaments you are meant to decorate; air dry clay to make Christmas tags (they leave that for day 24 which probably wouldn’t give it enough time to dry), etc. Yes, there were “fine art” projects, but when most projects are spread over days of boxes the craft themed projects make you wonder if this is really all they say it is.Takeaway:It is not value for money. I believe that tutorials would have added use and value to the “projects” and items. It is not “fine art” themed but more “arts and crafts.”

My Mom LOVES this every year!!!
My Mom is an artist (although she doesn’t call herself that) and I bought this calendar for her a few years ago, and now it has become an annual tradition for her November birthday. She tells me that the supplies are of good quality, and things she can use in painting, and she gets a kick out of the supplies she would never have thought to use. This year, she is really enjoying the project ideas, and has told me we’re going to do a few of them together over break. While it’s not cheap – it is worth every penny for me!!

So all in all i would habe wanted more supplies, that can be used long term (so brushes, utensils). The project idea would be cool if there was more instructions/ inspo. Summed up I think buying some supply you want for 100 bucks is way better. What is really upsetting that on top of that i am missing a whole number (22) how does that happen??
