Such a phenomenal read! Highly recommend!
Oh…. Oh my gosh.Astonishing! This has got to be the best retelling I have EVER read. I am in tears. This book was phenomenal! All retellings I have ever read tend to plat close to the chest and not change very much… or change it all together so the original gets lost. But… Beauty and the Beast: Lost in a Book totally changed AND challenged them all. It’s a one of a kind!I will say this, I pre-ordered it the SECOND I knew about it. Being a fanatic of Beauty and the Beast there is no possible way I could pass this up. The waiting game drove me insane but it was TOTALLY WORTH IT! I mean it is so epic, even halfway through the book I told my local library they HAD to buy a copy for others to read. The story line was unexpected and so different I really didn’t think it would work. Boy oh boy. I was wrong. Jennifer Donnelly has some SERIOUS talent. I have a feeling if someone tried to one up this book, they would fail. The writing was awesome and flowed so perfectly that there is no way you would want to put it down and if someone made you, you would possibly beat them over the head with the book WHILE reading it. It is just that awesome. LolThe characters were so strong and so powerful that you bond over a whole new level. Just being smoldering, sexy, sassy like Death. Sweet, charming, and beautiful like Love. Adventurous, strong, and bookwormy like Belle … I mean the list goes on. Even Beast, Chip, and the rest of the gang is so powerful that you not only feel what they fell, you ARE them.Ugh stop reading my review and go by this book! RIGHT NOW! What are you still reading for!? YOU NEED THIS BOOK! Go! Go get it!(Also….can I please rate HIGHER than 5 stars! It deserves more!)âReviews of a fearstreetzombie

Good good !
Ver a fun and interesting read. A little but if a twisted in this amazing story about the beauty and the beast. It was so good seeing them interact with each other but at the same time see Belle find a different alternative to stepping away from the beast even though it always cause her her life. Beauty and the beast will forever be one of my favorite movies, and this book gave me a little bit more time with themð

Have read it 3 times
I have read this book three times already over a couple of years and every time Iâm reminded of how much I like it! Itâs a fantastic and new point of view from the classic Beauty and the Beast. Iâve also really enjoyed Donnellyâs Waterfire Saga, and canât wait to read more of her books. â¤ï¸Favorite quotes: âShe might be a captive, but in this room, with a book in her hand, she could be free.ââAll her life, sheâd loved books. She loved the look of them, the smell of them, the sweet weight of them in her arms. Most of all, she loved the feeling she got every time she picked one upâthe feeling of holding an entire world in her hands.âââBut all we need to do is begin. The rest will take care of itself. A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.ââ – Belle

I enjoyed it
Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorites, from the classic Disney animation as well as the newest movie version with Emma Watson, so no doubt I had to get my hands on this book once I saw it finally released. This is a story within the story we all know. It begins with a wager between Love and Death, Love confident in, “Love always wins”, and Death betting against it. Their chess game reminded me of Harry Potter’s Wizard’s chess, potterheads will get what I’m talking about.Anyhow, not to stray away, it takes place while Belle is still in the castle. After Beast gives her the library, she stumbles into another room in the library and finds a book called, Nevermore, an enchanted book that literally gives her an escape out of the castle and into the book. But things aren’t what they seem and Belle may just be trapped forever in a book.I enjoyed reading this book. There’s the usual loved characters such as Cogsworth, Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, Chip, etc. as well as of course Beast, but there’s also new characters introduced.Although I did enjoy the story, I felt as if Belle wasn’t as strong minded as what I’m familiar with. I felt like she dismissed warning signs too easily and a few other minor things, but I guess the point was that our eyes and wants can sometimes blind reality. As book lovers, we lose ourselves in the stories we read, movies as well of course, escaping reality for a while and this story takes it a step further by literally getting, “lost in a book”.I enjoyed it and it was nice to see a story in-between the classic story of Beauty and the Beast.

A great book to get lost in
I know a lot of people have complained that Belle is not herself in this book, but this takes place after she was attacked by the wolves and the Beast saved her. She’s at a point where she’s very conflicted. She wants to leave and go back to her father, but she at war with her emotions about the Beast and where he stands with her. It’s a troubling time and she’s very conflicted. When she’s offered a means to escape that conflict, to be given people to talk to instead of animated objects, some of her dreams to come true, it’s hard to say no to that. The story though was very well written, I loved the play of Love and Death coming together to play their game with their bets. The way things played out and how it all comes to head was very interesting. The ties to classic literature and mythology also gave the story a nice twist.Fans of Beauty and the Beast will not be disappointed as this really adds to the story.

ð So I just finished reading Lost in a Book, and it was so good! ð It’s definitely a great story for all Beauty and the Beast fans. You almost feel like you’re being part of the story together with Belle while reading it.The concept that Belle’s going inside a magical book once in a while and befriending its characters and living a wonderful life is brilliant. But she also learns that even if life is difficult sometimes, you must always live your life and write your own story. It’s a great message, and the book also shows you that life isn’t always greener on the other side. And that love always wins. They also gave it a bit of fantasy flair since Love and Death are involved as well, but it still feels like a fairytale. It also does a great job keeping you connected to the movie with small details such as Belle remembering stuff from her old life and keeping the characters in the castle present. Again, Belle is going a little bit back and forth to the book, so you feel somewhat grounded to the story’s reality. And also the first like 50 pages does kinda introduce you to the story before the part with her finding the book actually starts; it helps you getting into the timeline that the story take place and you kinda gets to understand what’s going on in Belle’s head at that time. And since this book was written for the 2017 live action version of Beauty and the Beast, it definitely has a bit of that attitude to it, but at the same time it feels like the author wanted to pay some tribute to the original, because the library scene here defenitely feels more like the animated version, which I appreciate.Overall, I had a great experience reading this book. I always love when they make stories with Beauty and the Beast that take place during that time in the movie when they’re getting to know each other. It’s always interesting to watch, or in this case, read, and I think the author managed to create a very interesting and charming story. A magical Disney story to keep the middle grade reader engaged, but even adults, of course. Highly recommend! ð¥
