10 reviews for Dremel 4000-4/34 Variable Speed Rotary Tool Kit – 4 Attachments & 34 Accessories – Ideal for Cutting, Sanding, Engraving, Carving, and Polishing

A couple years in.
This is my second Dremel. I had one years ago but lost it in a barn fire. I purchased this newer one a couple years ago with some gift money from the holidays and love the tool. It is truly a time saver on many varying projects. They have so many tool attachments of tons of applications. As a maker/blacksmith/bladesmith/wood worker/crafter, I work with wood, steel, copper, glass, kydex, and leather. Here’s the short list of things I have done or plane to do with my Dremel:–Grind and shape details in metal.–Route out, grind and shape openings in wood for knife/blade handles or scabbards.–Grind–Buff coin rings after pressing and shaping them.–Polish small areas that other tools can’t reach in wood and metal.–Drill holes at awkward angles that a normal drill can’t reach.–Drill/grind holes in glass…getting ready to make a vacuum chamber in a large glass jar and the diamond bits with help immensely with this.–Cut outlet holes in drywall or wood.–Carve words in wood for a plaque.–Polish copper spoons. If you are a crafter or maker of any kind, you need this tool. I also have a Harbor Freight ‘multitool’ that I picked up at a garage sale…really doesn’t hold a candle to the Dremel. It saves me so much time on detail projects and also some larger projects that I didn’t even realize until I had it. Used to have a Zip Saw…don’t need it the Dremel can do it. I have a router but I usually use the little one with the Dremel. (Granted, I’m not making moulding or trim with it.)Very happy with this purchase.

Good Dremel!
This Dremel 4000 kit is a real workhorse! It’s got everything you need to get started with a wide range of projects. The flex shaft is a lifesaver for those hard-to-reach spots. I’ve used it for everything from carving wood to cleaning up metal parts. The included accessories are a good starting point, but there are tons more available. Highly recommend for any DIYer!

Perfect for grinding dog nails
GET THIS DREMEL (with Prime shipping)I damaged my 7 year-old Dremel and had to replace it. Over the course of 7 years, I used my Dremel every week to grind my dogs’ nails. One dog has soft nails and the other’s nails are dense. I got my puppy 7 years ago and got a second dog 5 years ago. I tried one of the grinders marketed for doing dog nails and those are crap. Over 7 years, I ground down 2 sets of pug toenails every week. I also used my Dremel to remove a section of baseboard for bookshelf installation. So I can’t comment on many of the uses for a Dremel. When it was time to replace it, I looked for a version with a separate on/off switch from the speed knob. I also wanted one that was at least 30,000 RPM. That led to the Dremel 4000. I didn’t need the case and really only needed one sanding accessory, but that’s not an option.DON’T BUY THE UBANTE – While searching for the Dremel 4000, I noticed the cost started at $75, and that there was an UBANTE U300 with variable speed from 10,000 to 37,000 RPM. It had good reviews (4 1/2 stars and quite a few reviews). Since I use it for only one thing (dog nails), I thought it would be fine. It was not. The sanding head was either way too rough or way too smooth, and didn’t even fit snugly on any of the shafts. When I ground the dogs’ nails, the rotary tool slowed down and jerked when I touched their nails. It couldn’t maintain its speed. It also ran very hot. My poor dogs, which are perfectly calm for nail trimmings kept jerking and trying to get away. After 2 uses, the entire casing began vibrating enough to make my hand go numb. I’m throwing this unit away. I’m not even going to insult someone by giving them this. I have no idea how this garbage got a 4-star rating.BUY WITH PRIME SHIPPING – I immediately ordered a Dremel 4000. There were 2 options – with Prime for $75, and Free shipping and one-week delivery for $45 from VMInnovations. I could wait a week to trim my dogs’ nails. So I ordered the Dremel 4000 with free shipping. The order information told me that the item would arrive in 4-8 days. The same day that I ordered it, the seller indicated that the item was on its way to the carrier. Yay! I was hopeful that it would arrive in 4 days. On the 4th day, the tracking indicated that the item was on its way to the carrier. There was no change on the 8th day, but the order info told me the item would arrive that day! I didn’t have a package when I got home from work and I checked the app. The information had not changed. At 8pm, I checked it again. This time, it told me that my package was late, and that if I didn’t receive it by Saturday (day 13) that I should contact Amazon support. At that point, I ordered this Dremel 4000 for $75 with Prime Shipping. It arrived 2 1/2 days later (on day 11) and I still haven’t received the VMInnovations order. As soon as I receive it, I’m returning it.ABOUT THIS DREMEL – As soon as I got this Prime order in a timely fashion, I opened it, set it up, and used it. It was a little tricky to figure out how to put on the sanding tip that I wanted. I understood how to put the metal tip in the shaft. I’ve used a drill before – You hold down the button and unscrew the metal piece to open the inside of the tip. Then you put the metal “bit” or whatever inside it, hold down the button and tighten the piece back. The wrench helped. What took me a few minutes was figuring out how to swap the rough grit sanding circle with the medium grit one. Basically, use the handle of the provided wrench as a screwdriver in the end of the sanding tip. There’s a little screw there. When you loosen the screw, the sanding hoop piece gets loose. Swap them and tighten it. I then used it for my dogs’ nails and was super-duper happy. It worked wonderfully. The nails were done quickly and with no nervous dogs. The Dremel ran smoothly and the air that blew the nail dust seemed better on this one. I also like the separate power/speed controls. It allows me to leave it on the same speed every time.USING THIS FOR DOG NAILS – I use a variable speed setting of 22 and the medium sanding tip. This works for both of my dogs: one with dense nails that grow slowly and the other has softer nalis that grow quickly. I sit on the sofa with my feet on a stool, and lay each dog (Pug) on their back with their head away from me. They’ve been doing it for years, and are perfectly calm. Plus I always give them a treat afterwards. If you’re new to trimming dog nails, make sure you check YouTube or something to learn how to do it. Dremels are great because they don’t leave the sharp edges like clippers, and if you do accidentally cut the nails too short, they don’t bleed as long.

Works for me
For the 4000 4/34 38 piece kit:Performance:5k-35k RPM is enough for my small projects. The control is pretty solid as well.Versatility:So far, the 4000 seems to be good for sanding, polishing, small cuts in thinner pieces of material (with the bits included for the 38 piece kit). I honestly just needed something easier to work with than a drill of more crafts and repairs.Accessories:My kit came missing the guide but reaching out to Amazon, they helped me to get a replacement. Every piece fit and did not look used. The great thing is that replacement bits are pretty cheap and abundant at the moment. The case that it comes in did have one of the nubs dented but it isn’t a deal-breaker for me. It’s a sturdy case, though it is made of plastic.Ease of holding:It doesn’t feel like you can’t control it, even with child-sized hands, however, I cannot weild this one-handed for finer details unless I hold the dremel underhanded.Ease of cutting:As long as you aren’t forcing the bit, the dremel is very smooth.Torque:Although there is an accessory for it to work as a drill press (not included), I wouldn’t recommend using as a drill press, especially for harder woods. This dremel is good for high speeds but the torque is pretty low.All in all, works great for me. It is my first dremel and I haven’t had any large jobs for it yet, so I can only speak for more simple applications.

Loving this machine.
I bought this as a gift for my wife, she absolutely loves this machine and all of the attachments. She like to redo old furniture and this helps her out with the reconstruction of patterns that are existing when she has to replace parts of the wooden furniture. My wife likes the weight and functionality of the tool. It’s nice everything stores ðª n the tough case it came in.

I got this Dremel about a year ago, and Iâm very happy with it. Itâs very beginner-friendly and has been great for several woodworking projects. Hereâs what Iâve learned:1. **Speed Control:** Be careful with the speed of the Dremel. If itâs too fast, it can create enough friction to burn the wood. This happened to me, and I didnât notice until after I finished, so watch out for that.2. **Bit Removal:** The bits can be a bit difficult to remove after using them for a while.Iâm really happy with what Iâve been able to achieve. The Dremel is smaller than I expected, but in a good wayâit’s a nice, compact tool. Iâll include pictures of the things Iâve made with it. As a newcomer to woodworking, Iâd definitely recommend this Dremel to anyone who wants to get into the craft.””Note”” you can see the one that I burned slightly

I have been using rotary tools for a while. When my old store-brand unit broke, I decided to upgrade to the leader in rotary tools, that being the Dremel. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.I opted for a corded unit because I use the flexible extension for carving and sanding. Several things separate this item from others.1.) Build Quality – you can feel the difference between the Dremel and others. It is particularly noticeable when using the flexible shift2.) Speed – My previous item had variable speed but with the Dremel it is slower at the minimum speed and faster at the higher speed3.) Speed Marking – it is easy to adjust the speed and, unlike others that I have seen, the Dremel has a gauge to tell you if you are at 5,000 RPM or 30,000 RPM4.) This kit includes enough accessories to handle most jobs. Once you get used the tool you can purchase other tools (e.g. my kids got me the stand for my B-Day) but this is a great starter kit that will last a while.I haven’t used the case since I got the tool, but keep it nearby so that it is available, if needed.Recommend this model of Dremel, with this kit. You won’t regret the purchase.
