Good Intro to the Product Line
This is a set, and as with most sets, some elements are likely to work better for you than others. I’ve used this for almost two months now, so I think I have a pretty good sense of how all of this works, at least for me. The three products here are three different steps in the Glow Recipe routine, following cleansing and their toner. After those you move on to the first of the set’s serums, an avocado moisturizing serum. This one I really liked, a lot. It provides that immediate hit of hydration that most toners–and hyaluronic acids for that matter–promise but fail to deliver, and preps the skin for the next product. It has a barely-there scent and absorbs almost immediately, so you’re ready for serum #2. That one is a Guava Vitamin C dark spot serum, which is okay. It is not heavily scented and it applies smoothly, but like most Vit. C serums (at least in my experience) it is a bit sticky and absorbs less well than the avocado serum. It does absorb better than many, though I have to wait 5-8 minutes before moving on.Finally there is the watermelon niacinamide serum, which I heartily dislike. It is seriously sticky, but then I have yet to encounter a niacinamide that is not, and I’ve tried a lot of them. So, I admit I went into this expecting to dislike #3, and I did. But what makes it worse is the smell. I know some people like the watermelon fragrance but I find it completely overwhelming and almost rotten smelling–more like compost than a picnic. So, think about how you feel about watermelon. So, how does all of this work? For me, that first serum is great. No other product has given me that fresh hydration to prepare my skin for what else is to come. The other two are supposed to provide the real glow, I think, while fighting dark spots. The glow is there, though I started all this with some glow and got no more than from many other products I have used. (Everything seems to promise glow these days.) The dark-spot fighting is what I am really interested in, as I have three quite dark splotches I have been trying to lighten for years, with no real success. One of the three does seem to have faded some, and that’s good; I’m pleased. It’s very slight progress, though, with none at all on the other two. But there’s another issue here. The set promises to “brighten,” but as with some similar products, what you really get is “whiten.” I don’t need whitening; I’m plenty pale enough, thank you, and I am now distinctly pastier looking than I used to be. And as my base color gets lighter, my (many) spots look even darker. I’ve had this problem with other “brightening” products, and I really don’t like it.All in all, then, 5 stars for serum #1, 4 for #2, and 3 for #3, which averages to the four stars in my rating.

  5. My 2 cents

My skin loved the combination of this trio, but the Avocado absorbed slowly on my skin.
4 ½ stars rounded up to 5. The Glow Recipe serums (Soothe, Brighten + Glow Trio) arrived in an untaped box. The three colorful glass bottles, each a mini size of 15 ml or .5 fl oz, all had unsealed caps covering their pumps. Ingredients are listed on the box but not the bottles. A one-time use packet of Cloudberry Bright Essence Toner is included, and ingredients are listed.I have acne-prone, combination skin and I’ve been using these serums for a week. All three serums had a pleasant, faint scent of their namesake ingredient, but after each serum was absorbed I couldn’t detect anything. One full pump provided great coverage, and the pumps worked well. These serums may be used together (the instructions on the back of the box recommend using the sample toner, then the Avocado, the Guava, and then the Watermelon) but may also be used individually, etc.Avocado Ceramide Recovery Serum:This soothing, light green serum contains a lot of botanicals (I’m a fan) and niacinamide, which my skin loves for its anti-acne and pore minimizing properties, but it took a while to absorb. My skin tends to absorb certain moisturizers slowly, and using this serum also caused the other serums to take a lot longer to absorb. However, once absorbed there was no tackiness. So, I’ll only be using this serum on days I’m not in a rush.Guava Vitamin C Dark Spot Serum:This light pink serum contains an amino acid (tranexamic acid) which can help even out skin tone over time. It also contains a lot of botanicals, ferulic acid, and five forms of vitamin C. I like to use a Vitamin C serum over my entire face during the day, but many of them can be tacky on my skin. This serum absorbed quickly when I didn’t use the Avocado serum, and my skin wasn’t tacky at all.Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops:This barely pink niacinamide serum absorbed quickly for me when I didn’t use the Avocado serum, with no tackiness. It left my skin looking slightly dewy, especially when I layered all three serums. This is the only serum that contains the vague “fragrance/parfum”. It also contains an EU 26 fragrance (benzyl benzoate), but these fragrances are listed last. This is a trio of fun, brightly colored bottled serums that worked well together on my skin; it’s a great combination of ingredients for me.Vegan and cruelty free, but I didn’t see that information on the box or bottles. Icons on the box state the three bottles should be good for at least 12 months after opening. Two of the products (the Guava and Avocado serums) are “Made in USA with globally sourced materials”. The Watermelon serum is “Made in Korea with globally sourced materials”.
