13 reviews for Skincare: The ultimate no-nonsense guide
Coloratura Kiki –
A Great Book, Especially for Those New to Skincare
I don’t understand any of the negative reviews here. I haven’t read the author’s blog, but of course, the material in the book would be similar unless the author has changed her opinion about something. I think this is a great book. I’ve been searching Amazon for a comprehensive book on skincare and skincare products, and this is, by far, the best. The author covers skin types, skin problems, skincare routines, where we should be spending the bulk of our skincare budget, skincare myths, and so much more. This is definitely not a book for estheticians or chemists working in the skincare industry. Hopefully, those persons already know everything contained in this book. This is a book for the non-professional, the everyday woman or man. And, it’s written in a down-to-earth, easy-to-read style that any educated person can understand. The author is, at no time, crude. She doesn’t coddle the big brands; she tells it like it is, but she is never crude about it. For me, at least, she comes off as an honest, truthful person, who would be fun to get to know. This isn’t a book about makeup, nor does the author doesn’t write much at all about the various skincare devices that are flooding the market today. She writes about skincare: cleansers, toners, serums, moisturizers, etc., and who needs which ones and why. A book on skincare and the products necessary for good skincare is exactly what I wanted. When I’m not performing on stage, which requires heavy makeup, I tend to favor a more natural look and give my skin a rest, but even if I’m only wearing tinted moisturizer, mascara, and lip gloss, my skin is still being nourished by the toners, serums, and other products I’ve used before I put on my “minimalist’s palette” of makeup. You might not agree with everything in this book. I didn’t. The author eschews cleansing brushes in favor of washcloths, and I love cleansing brushes, especially silicone cleansing brushes. But that’s okay. I don’t think any reader is going to agree with everything the author says. The important point, in my case, at least, is that we both agree that the skin has be thoroughly cleansed morning and night, every day.I think anyone who is new to comprehensive skincare and is trying to figure out what cleansers, toners, essences, serums, moisturizers, sleeping masks, etc., to buy and when to use them will benefit enormously from reading this book. I am not new to comprehensive skincare, and I found a lot in the book to help me, a lot I didn’t know. I know I’ll refer to the book again and again. If you’re new to skincare and find the vast array of products overwhelming, and they certainly can be, or if you just want to know more, try this book. I think you’ll be delighted.

The true skincare bible.
My book arrived in good condition, as opposed to others I’ve seen when being shipped from Amazon. The aesthetics of the book are truly one of a kind. The smoothness of the pages, the clarity and easy to read pages are definitely helpful. I wear glasses, but was able to read everything even with a dim light. The contents of the book is superb. Caroline is highly knowledgeable and you can tells its written how she speaks. No extra nonsense, everything was straight to the point. The book is a one stop shop for anyone interested in taking skincare a bit more seriously. She explains in detail about brown skin, skin conditions, how to properly cleanse and treat skin as well as many other aspects such as marketing from skin care brands and even what to do for your skin at your age. The book is literally all encompassing. Dont pass up on this great read. You will definitely enjoy it.

The only book you’ll ever need on skincare!
I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book and it has not disappointed. Caroline is an expert in the industry and she knows her stuff! The book is of such high quality — beautiful hardcover, so many gorgeous full color photos, signature yellow bookmark and it oozes with information laid out in such a way that you could read it cover to cover if desired or just look in the index for the topic that interests you to easily find what you’re looking for. The glossary in the back helps define all those things you never thought you wanted to know and the glossary of Brands was entertaining and educational! This book is for anyone with skin, no matter their age or color and I love the way Caroline has presented the information in her witty, no-nonsense way. 5+++ stars!

Incredible tips for every type of skin!
I loved how it’s written in a no-nonsense kind of way, Caroline is a genius. This book really covers every single skin type and condition, which is great because it gives you the knowledge you’ll need to manage your skincare for the rest of your life (and to deal with any kind of condition you might come across). The product recommendations are also great and the tips on understanding ingredients is amazing and eye-opening. My skin has drastically improved after I changed my routine and followed the advice. I’m recommending this to every friend and family member!

Iâm just taking my first look through this book and, on first impressions, Iâm really pleased with my purchase. Itâs well set out, easy to read, in fact I feel like Iâm sat with Caroline whilst she talks me throughthings, and is refreshingly honest in its views. Iâm in my 50âs and have always wore makeup and had a skincare routine. As Iâve got older Iâve become more invested in my skincare, but have always been conscious of fads and products that make outlandish claims. But there are that many different products out there for us to use, and in what order, it can all become quite confusing. From what Iâve read so far, this book helps to sort out all those beauty facts and myths. Iâve already learned a few new things I wasnât aware of, and I can see myself referring to this book on a regular basis. I especially like the way it has been worded and the tone and language used. Iâd say this is the best beauty book Iâve ever read and would highly recommend to anyone interested in beauty. I wish this book had been available as I was setting out in life. I would have loved a book like this in my 20âs. That said, skincare has come on a lot since the 80âs, with a lot more products having been developed, such as serums, and all the new acids that are more beneficial than the word acid would have you believe. If you have a teenage daughter or niece, I would recommend this book as a skincare bible to give them all the right information as early as possible and set them on their path to great skincare through each decade of their lifeâ¦â¦â¦
